Insomnia

God I wish I could sleep. I go to school, then I go to work till 11-12, then I stay up for hours, sometimes not even sleeping. I know most people will tell me to just lay there and close my eyes, but I do that, for hours, with my eyes closed. And then I open my eyes because its pointless to lay there for hours with your eyes closed and you not fall sleep. So I play video games and listen music, people will probably also say that watching movies or playing video games is the worst way to get ready for sleep because those to thing increases brain activity making it harder for you to get tired; but video games and music actually help more than just laying there. Then when I do sleep it is just not enough, only getting 5 or less a night, and not reaching REM sleep, so I once again start my day off with school, then work, then the ever constant battle between sleep or not.

  1. I get it too. I don’t have insomnia but when I sleep, I don’t sleep well. I think it has to do with my breathing. Every night I go to bed at around 10 and get up as 7, and I am still as exhausted as if I didn’t sleep at all. Have you tried any prescription to help you sleep?

  2. I would suggest finding a good book to read. This can be either fiction or non-fiction. I was not much of a reader until I began reading to combat this exact issue. Something about reading before bed helps with remaining asleep throughout the night. I would suggest Markus Zusak’s “The Book Thief.” This book has a slow start but is a really good example of historical fiction. Hope this helps.
